Plot

Seven years old Vera lives in the big city but spends the holidays in his grandparents' little town, an agricultural area where tobacco used to be a monoculture. Her summer starts with an exciting adventure: she discovers a fascinating giant creature at her grandparents' deserted tobacco barn.
Nieves is a teenager who feels caged in this little town. Nieves’ father is one of the few tobacco farmers left in the area, and he forces his daughter to help out at the family's barn. Both Nieves and Vera embark themselves on parallel adventures, connected to the magical creature that will change the way they see their own reality.

Rocío Mesa

Rocío Mesa is a Spanish filmmaker, producer and programmer based in California. Her practice focuses on independent and experimental cinema, with works that have been screened at festivals such as SEFF, BAFICI, Festival des cinémas différents et expérimentaux de Paris, Camara Lucida, L'Alternativa...etc. Rocío Mesa is the artistic director of "LA OLA - Independent Films from Spain", an organization focused on the promotion of Spanish avant-garde cinema in North America since 2015.
She has worked as a programmer for organizations such as the LA Film Festival or Art House Theater Day. Rocío Mesa is the founder of the production company My Deer Films and has produced feature films like Mbah Jhiwo / Alma Anciana by Álvaro Gurrea, premiered at Berlinale Forum 2021 and selected at prominent festivals such as Viennale. Mesa was named by Variety as "one of the 10 most promising women in the Spanish film industry".
