Plot
What would you do if one day you realize that a double, a doppelganger, similar to you has taken your place in life and nobody even suspects that she is not you? If all your obligations, all your duties, are being made by that ‘other you’, would you fight to recover your lost identity? Or, on the contrary, would you try to find your own being far from all that was supposed to be your ‘normal’ life? And, in that case, will this option help you to find real happiness?
Ana is a young, well-educated Spanish woman from a traditional, middle-class family. She is about to finish her PhD in Law and get married but she doesn't feel fulfilled. One day, a double (doppelganger) takes her place in life, dealing with all her responsibilities.
Realizing for the first time that she is totally free, Ana decides to explore her new anonymity and freedom, testing her own limits and searching for the meaning of life, between a boarding-house and cabaret nights in Madrid: places full of people who, in some way, one day also decided to disappear.
However, at one point routine also arrives to her new life and a question haunts her: Is it possible to ever run away from oneself?

Andrea Jaurrieta
Andrea Jaurrieta (Spain, 1986) is a Goya-nominated writer and director. Her debut feature film, 'Ana by Day', which she also produced, participated in over 30 international festivals such as Bafici or Málaga, winning 12 awards, which culminated with her nomination for Best New Director at the 33rd Goya Awards (Spanish Cinema Academy Awards) in 2019. In addition to having been Director’s trainee in Pedro Almodóvar’s 'Julieta', her short films have screened at international festivals and her experimental video installations have been exhibited in artistic institutions globally.
She has been a recipient of grants from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, the "Residencia de Estudiantes" in Madrid and the Residences of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Film, where she was awarded Best Director of her promotion, and a Master's Degree in Film Direction from ESCAC. She is also graduated in drama studies by William Layton Lab in Madrid. She combines her film projects with her work as a professor of Film Studies, Acting and Direction in several schools and universities. In 2019 she also imparted a master class in cinema at The Sorbonne, Paris.
In addition to her work as a director, she has also worked as film editor, first assistant director and producer on several audiovisual projects.
Since 2019 she is member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain.
