Plot

Miguel is appointed parish priest of a socialist village coinciding with the uprising of 1936. From the beginning of the war, the national side occupies the town and soon the executions follow one after the other. In his struggle to defend the reprisals, Miguel confronts the ecclesiastical and military hierarchy, putting his own life at stake. The young priest finds refuge in his friendship with the village teacher, whose husband was killed at the beginning of the conflict. The relationship with Margari is the counterpoint to the disenchantment of the young priest and his only support on a road he must travel alone.

Helena Taberna

Helena Taberna began as a filmmaker in the 90's writing, directing and producing numerous short films, both fiction and documentary. Her debut feature film, Yoyes, about the Basque conflict and starring Ana Torrent, was released in 2000 to critical acclaim, awards and box office success. Helena has subsequently released the feature films Extranjeras (2003) whose background deals with the phenomenon of emigration, La buena nueva (2008), about historical memory and the civil war, Nagore (2010), which proposes a reflection on gender violence, and Acantilado (2016), which delves into the universe of sects. His filmography has enjoyed the support of the public and critics, having won numerous international awards. The themes chosen as a backdrop for his films strike and move, generating the complicity of the viewer, which has led to his films being regularly screened on television and social forums around the world. In the fall of 2019 he plans the theatrical release of his latest feature, Varados, a film shot in Greece with real characters.
